Why use it
Before giving a colleague or report hard feedback. It builds a factual, respectful message in two frameworks so you can choose.
How to use it
Name the person and role in [WHO], the observed behavior in [SPECIFIC OBSERVATIONS], the expected standard in [EXPECTED STANDARD] and your relationship in [CONTEXT].
Short example
Who: a new nurse. Observation: twice left handover notes incomplete. Standard: full notes every shift. Context: I am her mentor.

Two scripts (situation-behavior-impact and a strengths-first approach), two questions, a change request and a note on tone and timing.
Precautions and tips
- Describe observable behavior only, never the person’s character.
- No sarcasm and no comparisons with other people.
- Name one specific thing that is going well.
